Waiting for the Rapture?

Well, it would be a nice idea wouldn't it? Whisk me away Lord... no trial or tribulation for me. Unlike Noah, we don't need a boat and will not go through the storm, won't have to endure any time (let alone 40 days) in the desert, Jonah may have had to spend 3 days in the belly of the whale - but not us! We are going to get zapped outta here...right? WRONG.

Our Savior HIMSELF, said we would endure tribulation in this world;

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33

If you believe in the rapture, my hope is with you for sure. However, I think you should examine scripture (from Genesis to Revelation) for yourself, and see if that line of thinking truly lines up with what our Messiah taught.

For example;
 Jeremiah 5: 7"How can I pardon you? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by what are no gods...9Shouldn't I punish them for these things?" says Yahweh; "and shouldn't my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 10"Go up on her walls, and destroy; but don't make a full end. Take away her branches; for they are not Yahweh's. 11For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very treacherously against me," says Yahweh. 12They have denied Yahweh, and said, "It is not he; neither shall evil come on us; neither shall we see sword nor famine. 

I ask you to take a close look at the history of "rapture" theology, it is the invention of man.

  • Prior to 1830 AD, this was unheard of doctrine - taught by no church
  • A man named John Nelson Darby invented this doctrine around 1830 AD, based on essentially one passage in scripture; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, and also his interpretation of the "missing" church from the later chapters in the book of Revelation. 
  • I believe that the Rapture is a great deception, designed to get the eyes of believers off the signs of the times.

Well, I believe we will have to endure as Noah did, and we are possibly going to need a bigger boat. Those were some CrAZy days, and I think we too must be prepared for a wild ride.

Jeremiah 5:31 tells us this, and asks us an important question, what do you say?
The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?

To Tame the Savageness of Man

My fellow Americans, my fellow citizens of the world, 
I ask you to consider the words of this man - a crusader for civil rights, social justice and peace. 
A man killed for his convictions, shot down for his ideals. A man who worked for the common people, and I ask you - the people of this planet, to consider taking the dangerous action of standing together for that which he was killed for. #SocialJustice #Freedom #Liberty

Kennedy spoke of King's dedication to "love and to justice between fellow human beings," adding that "he died in the cause of that effort."
And Kennedy sought to heal the racial wounds that were certain to follow by referring to the death of his own brother, President John F. Kennedy.
"For those of you who are black and are tempted to ... be filled with hatred and mistrust of the injustice of such an act, against all white people, I would only say that I can also feel in my own heart the same kind of feeling," he said. "I had a member of my family killed, but he was killed by a white man."
Many other American cities burned after King was killed. But there was no fire in Indianapolis, which heard the words of Robert Kennedy.
A historian says a well-organized black community kept its calm. It's hard to overlook the image of one single man, standing on a flatbed truck, who never looked down at the paper in his hand — only at the faces in the crowd.
"My favorite poem, my — my favorite poet was Aeschylus," Robert Kennedy said, "and he once wrote:
Even in our sleep, pain which cannot forget
falls drop by drop upon the heart,
until, in our own despair,
against our will,
comes wisdom
through the awful grace of God.

"What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love, and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black."
Two months later, Robert Kennedy himself was felled by an assassin's bullet. (NPR, 2008)
I would add only to Kennedy's words that we need compassion toward one another, whether Christian, Jew, Muslim, Atheist or other religion... NOW IS THE TIME, WE MUST NOT DELAY. Crusading for social justice is a dangerous business (just ask JFK, RFK or MLK - oh, that's right, we can't because they were murdered for doing it), but fight we must. JUSTICE and FREEDOM, these are things worth standing for - together. We must not look towards governments, we must look towards the people, we must unite as people to, as Kennedy so eloquently stated "tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of this world" (Kennedy, 1968)

My fellow Americans, my brothers and sisters across the world,
We MUST call evil, evil. 
We must stand steadfast in the face of fear and be courageous, and we must stand together against those who would seek to spread terror, violence and horror. 
This is not a time to withdraw, or to build walls. 
This is a time to reach out and take each others hands, to walk united - in a show of force - a force of good. 
This is not a time to be politically correct. 
This not a time to be worried about causing offence, this my friends is a time for serious action - from the streets of small towns to the paved walks of great cities, WE MUST CRY FREEDOM. 
DO NOT LET YOUR VOICE BE SILENCED BY FEAR.
Today I pray, not for the peace the world would give, but that peace which only God can give, that peace that passes understanding. I pray for those in the line of fire, those searching for hope, that they would be given the strength and courage to endure. May God bless us and have mercy on our souls, in the matchless name of Christ the King. Amen.

Ukraine, a prayer for safety



As conflicts continue to escalate across the world, and we see refugees fleeing in record numbers unlike anything since the last World War, I want to offer up prayer today for all those oppressed, hurting and living in fear. All of those who live in danger daily, while many turn a blind eye and go on with daily life there are so many who are in the midst - who are enduring this tribulation now.
My prayer is that the Lord is with you, that you would know His peace - not that the world may give but His peace that passes understanding, that you would know hope and love and through these find strength.
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. 
The Lord be with all of you. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)

I am blessed to have so many who read these words on foreign shores, so far from my home, and it is my heart's desire that today you would know you are in my prayers and on my mind:

grace in the wilderness

On this past Monday (9/14/15) in celebration of Rosh Hashanah, I participated in the ritual of "tashlikh" or "casting off", symbolically casting my sins into a body of water by throwing rocks representing my sins for the year.
"He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the sea" (Micah 7:19). 

I should have most likely thrown a number of huge boulders.
Sin. Ugh. 
Why are we humans so fallible and filthy? 
Even Paul said; 
"I don't really understand myself, for I want to do what is right, but I don't do it. Instead, I do what I hate." (Romans 7:15). 
And he was was a pretty "good" guy, yet, even he could not get it right all the time, Saint Paul, the apostle - chosen by the Messiah - screwed up. 
God is funny that way, He seems to choose some pretty messed up individuals to represent Him down here... 

God, You gotta love the guy, He really seems to have a great sense of humor.
Of course to be fair, flawed - imperfect - screwed up people ARE all He has to work with!

My sins? Well, they are grievous and many. 
The ten commandments? I've trespassed every one in the course of my life, not "merely" in thought - but in deed. 
I have much to be forgiven for. 

For this forgiveness, I am grateful, and in my gratitude I commit to love. 
May I walk in forgiveness each day He allows me on this earth, may I remember how much I have been forgiven and extend that forgiveness to others. 

I offer you this reminder today:



Do you doubt? (Yeah, well so did Thomas.)
Do you deny Him? (Yeah, well, so did Peter.)
Get over yourself.

Seek and you shall find, look not at the reflections or shadows of God that have been perpetrated by the "church", instead look for yourself. 
You will discover a God who came to earth as none other before Him, a Man who lived like no other before, or since. 

I was blessed to read the following from Jeremiah during service on Monday evening. My prayer today is that we all may go out in the dance of the merrymakers - and that we all may find grace in this wilderness.

#NeverForget

On this 14th anniversary of 9/11 I implore you, my fellow Americans, to not only never forget, but to REMEMBER who you are and for what we are called to stand for. 
The last few years it seems we have developed an alternate reality, one where we apologize for America, for who we are as a nation, the mistakes and atrocities committed may be many - but despite that fact, we remain the grandest experiment humanity has ever embarked upon. A country, different from all in recorded history, with a government of the people, by the people and for the people. We now must ask however, who have we allowed ourselves to become? Are we still governed by the people? Or have we given power over to the wealthiest among us. Do we strive to govern ourselves, or instead cry out for a government to rule and control our populace because we are too lazy to take care of ourselves, or because instead of courage, we choose fear. The history of America is not without mistake, not without shame of injustice, that being said, it is indeed a history of bold - courageous and brave men and women standing for liberty and freedom. 
Am I proud to be an American? You bet your ass I am proud to be an American. 9/11 is just one example of what we have to be proud of. 19 men attacked us that day, thousands responded in the face of great peril to save their fellow countrymen. You tell me where the shame lies in that story. 9/11 is a story of good versus evil, in our modern age we have begun to deny evil is reality  - it is politically incorrect. Well, evil is a reality and it is at work in our world. America has fought and stood against evil and tyranny, only fools with a lack of understanding of history would believe otherwise. 

















I am a conspiracy theorist from way back. I do not believe Lee Harvey Oswald was a lone shooter and I am confident that extraterrestrial evidence is kept in Area 51. However, when people start ranting that the events of 9/11 were only contrived by our own government, they again expose their ignorance of the broader world and what exactly is happening in it. We are at war with Radical Islam, whether we want to be or not. ISIS, for example, is Islamic, regardless of what our current administration proposes. We are also in a battle with those who would work to destroy our nation from within, who strive to strip our people of their freedoms, some of these are our very own elected officials - whom "we the people" offer our liberties up to on a plate.

I offer up this prayer today, for all the peoples of America, that we would stand together - regardless of race or religion, as so many before us have called for us to do. As Martin Luther King Jr said, "we must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools". We, as a people, are the greatest force this world has ever seen - remember who you are America, remember your power to change this world.

Remember America, before it is too late for our children, and NEVER FORGET.

Victory

Have you over come this world?  I know I sure as fuck have not. 
I mean look around... death, destruction, despair. 
You can not buy your way out. You can not fill the empty whole in your heart, you can not cheat death. 
You can not look at your loved ones and say with absolute assurance "its all going to be all right", because its not. 
There is no security offered from this world. There is, however, hope. 
One man came and overcame this world. One man came and gave His life for all. 
One man paid the price for your sin and mine, so we can look at our children and say "there is victory". 
Believe, have faith in your Creator today, it is the only thing He asks of you. 
All the rest is bullshit.

National Day of Prayer 2015



Remember who you are America. 
Today thousands of men, women and children across this nation will lift their voices, 
turn their faces towards, and open their hearts -  to God.
Will you? He calls to you today.


We live in a glorious age of wonder, we also exist in a time of profound change and upheaval.
Climate change, unprecedented drought, animal extinctions, volcanic eruptions, and - as the earth shakes across our nation and around the world, many simply go about their business, as if nothing is out of the ordinary. But it is beyond ordinary, we are chosen to bear witness to the EXTRAORDINARY. 

YOU WERE BORN FOR A TIME SUCH AS THIS.

We are blessed with FREEDOM, 
living in a country where we can chase our dreams, speak our minds
and even take liberty for granted.
Today, I beseech you beloved friend, look at the world - be grateful for your place in it. 
Lift your eyes to the heavens with wonder, and believe in the God who created it all. 
In His mercy, He offers you grace and love.

AMAZING LOVE

He has not come to call the righteous - but sinners.

Think you can surprise God? Think again, He knows IT ALL, and had YOU figured from the very beginning.

I listened to a great message this morning, it reminded me that it is God's will that NONE should perish... to get to the gates of HELL you must first pass over the CROSS of CALVARY.

What makes people turn to God?
Punishment... fear...argument...truth...?
None of the above.
Kindness, the love of the Lord is what draws men to the light.


He calls your name today...do you doubt?
Do not look to mankind and religion, instead, seek for yourself.
THERE IS AN ANSWER, and it is available to you  - A GIFT, you just need to accept it.
He would have done it all JUST FOR YOU... Amazing LOVE.
